2. MEDICINE COUNTER ASSISTANT (MCA) - PHARMACY COUNCIL
The
Medicine Counter Assistant (MCA) Course covers retail skills, the
classification of medicines, the use of questions, handling prescriptions,
abuse and misuse of medicines, referral to the pharmacist and product
knowledge.
The course covers a wide range of symptoms and complaints encountered by the medicine counter assistant and will help you to develop confidence at the medicine counter and improve product knowledge.

A
medicines counter assistant (MCA) works in a Pharmacy under the supervision of
a pharmacist. A medicines counter assistant can acquire Licence to run a licence chemical shop, and offer advice on common ailments.
Upon successful completion of the PROGRAM, students will be awarded with a Certificate in Medicine Counter Assistant by Pharmacy Council. Admissions are open to all senior high school graduates and those awaiting results, O-level or A-level holders, mature students, MCA's etc.
This is a
one year certificate program of the Ghana Educated Service. The areas of study
include: Pharmacy; Preparation of health insurance claims; Inventory
management; Public Health; Communication skills; Occupational health; Law and ethics;
First Aid; Customer Care; Records Keeping.
Upon
successful completion of the PROGRAM, students will be awarded with a Certificate in Health Facility Assistant by
Ghana Educated Service after passing the final external exams under Technical
Exams Unit- GES.
Students
who complete this program successfully, will have the opportunity to work in a
Hospital or a Clinic, Pharmacy, Acquire Licence to run a licence chemical shop, One can also work as a support staff in the records department of any
health facility such as Medical Laboratory, Homeopathic clinic, Herbal Hospital
etc.

4. HEALTHCARE CERTIFICATE
Certificate in Healthcare (NVTI)
Healthcare
(NVTI) work in hospital or community. The role can be varied depending upon the
healthcare setting. They work alongside nurses, qualified midwives in maternity
services and are sometimes known as auxiliary nurses.
Diplomas in Health Care (City & Guilds – UK)
The
Diplomas in Health Care have been designed to give health care workers a
comprehensive programme of learning and assessment in their field of work.
They
